Heading in to season 4, I was holding on to a perfect 3-0 record in Ironman Fantasy Football. While the three-peat was nice, I really had my eye on 4. That would be a Mount Rushmore of Ironman. But if Mark wins, he's on the board at 1-3 and it feels like he's keeping it competitive.
Here were our Week 1 starters:
I took Week 1 126.5 - 86.
But Mark stormed back with two wins to be leading after three weeks:
In weeks 2 and 3, Mark got 38.5 points from Rashee Rice, a $6 receiver. He was priced low because of a possible suspension, and both of us wanted him. Through three weeks, it looked like that was going to be a key advantage for Mark.
Week 4 was a turning point. Rice got hurt, out for the year. The next three weeks, I won each game by 50+. My guys were playing well, and Mark was facing big holes. In week 5, Mark had 6 zeroes on his bench, and unfortunately for him, 3 zeroes in his lineup.
But Mark wasn't done. He came back in Week 7 with big days from Breece Hall and Amon-Ra while I was without a kicker and struggling a bit at WR with an injured Nico Collins. Mark won 3 out of 4 and through 10 weeks, we were tied 5-5. This was the most even season yet.
Mark had the performance of the year and now leads the season 6-5 in a race to 10 wins.
In Week 12, Mark's team scored 101 less than in Week 11.
I responded by going on a late season run:
In weeks 12-15 Mark failed to score over 100, being let down by Pacheco, Kyler, Breece and Harrison Jr.
With 3 weeks to play, I was up 9-6. But Week 17 is worth double. So Mark could come from behind if he wins 16-17-18.
In 16, I couldn't close it out.
In 16, I couldn't close it out.
That meant I was up 9-7 heading into the double week. One Mark win and we're all tied up at 9-9.
And in the clutch moment, who came through for me?
I clinched the 2024 Ironman Season with a final standings of 11-7.
