Johnson, Andre WR HOU 29
Harrison, Marvin WR IND 39

Vinatieri, Adam K IND 28
Steelers, DST DST PIT 42

And here are Mark's picks:

Here's to a good season.

And Addai goes down on the first play! Wow.
And then Harrison gets me a touchdown and Mark gets it for Manning too.

  1. I like how this is half-live blog :)

Reggie Wayne's an ass...I've got negative points right now because of him.

  2. Construda Update:

So as of the 2-minute warning in the first half, burnsy has 2 players playing, and he's at negative 2.

rishi's down 11, although he's facing harrison and mcallister, so that's to be expected.

mark's got 6 for addai, anish has 8 for manning, and brees only has gotten me 1 pt.

  3. hmmm..kind of a boring half. manning had that nice throw to harrison and there was a fumble going the other way for a td, but not much excitement from the saints offense.

  4. And Wayne going bananas. Taking me from -2 to 27!

  5. 62 ... nice.

  6. I have no idea what "62" kirat is referring to. Also, for the record, Wayne ended up at 21 points, not 27.

The game was a big dissapointment, I mean my expectations were so high, that I guess it almost had to be. But it was quite surprising to see the Saints perform so poorly, especially on offense.

And the Colts, my God, the Colts. They look even better than they did last year...that doesn't seem fair.

Also, for the Construda League, it's weird that I don't have to root against everyone else. I was bummed when Addai scored, but then realized "I don't care if Mark beats Matt"

Of course for Home Team it still matters, and my picks of Harrison and Vinatieri look pretty good, and Mark had Peyton so he's in good shape too.

  7. Yeah, I meant Wayne took my point total from -2 to 27. Though it actually ended up at 26.

And I also was confused by Kirat's 62 comment.

So in the Construda League only the matchups matter? Isn't there any kind of overall comparison or cumulative point total involved? I haven't played around with it enough yet to figure it out for myself.

  8. The format is similar to actual NFL: You play 14 head to head games. The best 4 teams make the playoffs. Then week 15 and 16 you have the playoffs.

So if you beat Miguel by 40 or 4 it doesn't matter. Of course you can boast that you had the most points, but it doesn't count for anything.

Just like in the NFL, every week matters. A rough estimate is that 10-4 makes the playoffs, so say you can only lose 4 times all year. If you open with a loss, that's not a good sign.

Also, it depends on your schedule--last year I was average for points scored, but dead last in standings.

  9. A great Madden gem regarding the Giants' kicker Lawrence Tynes getting a cramp: "When a player gets dehydrated, that's when they can get a cramp. They will get a cramp when they're dehydrated...that's dehydration."

He then proceeded to describe how a kicker can get dehydrated by doing a lot of warm-up exercises, saying it could lead them to "hyperventilating."

    Hilarious.
