Chiefs: Embarrasing

Coach Vermeil: “That was a good old fashioned butt-whipping. They got after us and whipped us soundly in every way. They out-coached us; they out-played us; they out-everythinged us. We were that far out of the football game. I don’t if it was ever quite as close as the score indicated. If someone sets an NFL career rushing or a career rushing record what we thought was a real sound defense…well, we weren’t worth a damn. I wasn’t worth a damn, nobody else was worth a damn."

Now for the Chiefs to make the playoffs they MUST:

Win both of their last games (at Arrowhead vs. Chargers, Bengals)
The Steelers must lose one of their games (Browns, Lions)

It doesn't look good.

  1. Question: Is it worse for your team to be on the edge of the playoff bubble, making every loss excruciating or is it worse if your team just sucks and everybody knows it?

I will use us as an examble. Your heart gets broken week after week as the chiefs lose and make it more improbable that they will make the playoffs. I was able to write off the lions competing at least a month ago and when i saw them on thanksgiving i knew they were toast (toast?). the fire millen chants at sporting events across the country and the millen man march are comedic gold. i am actually able to enjoy this season. however, they are a horrible football team and it doesn't look to be getting any better. isn't winning what sports is all about? i think i would rather be a chiefs fan now than a lions fan. too bad you don't get to really pick your teams. it's kind of like the caste system, right burnsy?

  2. Sure my heart gets broken when they lose, but is awesome when they win. And with a 8-6 record, there have been more good days than bad. Especially beating the Broncos, Raiders, Patriots, Raiders, Redskins, blowing out the Jets. So it was a good season already. Plus playoff hopes are better than draft hopes.

Ultimately these games mean a whole lot. And even in a loss, it is fun to have the game on the line. Sure I had 2 heart attacks watching the Giants game, but that's better than not caring at all. I mean they beat the Champs. They beat the raiders for the 6th straight time on the last play of the game. How cool is that? And with some help from the Steelers, I really think the Chiefs can win any game at home. There are 5-1 at home this year. 4-game winning streak. And havent lost at home in December in 10 years. So there's still hope. And I hope big ben's thumb falls off.
