in defense of the double down

I have not eaten a KFC double down. I don't plan on it.

The media has gotten lots of miles blasting the Double Down as a health horror.

But is it really that bad?

A quick check of the nutrition facts reveals that it has only 540 calories. As your lunch, that would fit comfortably into a 2,000 calorie day.

Furthermore, the Happy Meal with nuggets and chocolate milk is 580 calories and the cheesburger Happy Meal is 700 calories.

And you don't even have to go all the way to the Big Mac...getting a Quarter Pounder with Cheese and a Medium Fry is 890 calories.

Even McDonald's Grilled Chicken Club or Southwest Crispy Chicken salad with dressing is 530 calories.

So there you go...a Double Down has less calories than a salad and a few fries.

  1. yeah, but how many double downs am i going to eat in one lunch? or will i also get fries and a drink?

    i can't wait to come back to the states and get me a double down. it sounds doubly delicious
