USA Wins Group; Never A Doubt!

All it took was a great defensive performance and Costa Rica shocking Columbia. Good news is that we'll likely avoid Brazil. We'll find out our opponent tomorrow, either Ecuador, Peru or Brazil.

Time to dust off the USMNT gear

I mean I don't have any gear, but still.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copa_Am%C3%A9rica_Centenario#Group_stage

This Centennial edition of the Copa is the first outside of South America. And it's the US! No pressure guys, but the Chile hosted the last one and won it.

US games in the group stage:

RL

This is my Steph Curry shot. From way downtown, and I start backing away as I shoot it. No need to look for a rebound.

chance the rapper

Coloring Book by Chance The Rapper is the best rap album I've heard in 15ish years.

I know there's not that many rap fans on Hoagie Central, but take a listen to the first track and see what you think.

They keep taking the video down so your best bet is just to find whatever version is up at this moment here.

Every time I see this guy's name, my mind keeps reading it as Perez Taylor.

ouch

I love Nate Silver and trust him more with election news than anyone, but this is still a great burn.

Grading SI's Super Bowl Predictions since 1990

So someone posted all of SI's Super Bowl predictions since Super Bowl 25.

And then someone else comes along and organizes the data.

They got the winner correct 4 out of 26 times, 15.3%.

They got a Super Bowl team correct 12 out of 52 times, 23%.

(I think it's interesting that by picking two teams to "place" instead of one team to win, is easier at exactly a 50% rate.)

Twice they got both teams correct: 1991 and 2010, but both times they got the winner wrong.

I couldn't crunch the playoff numbers for all teams, but I did it for the Chiefs.

They predicted the Chiefs would make the playoffs 11 times, getting 7 correct. (63%)

They predicted the Chiefs would miss the playoffs 15 times, getting 10 correct. (66%)

Total correct is 65%. Interesting that they did so well in predicting if the Chiefs would make the playoffs, and it didn't matter if they were good or not.

I don't know if I should say 65% is doing well or not actually, but it seemed impressive initially.

Predicting the Nominees

So we already know 2016 will be Trump v Clinton.

So let's go deeper...

I predict 2020 will be Ryan v Clinton.

Rocket League: Hoops Highlights and more

In case you haven't heard, Rocket League introduced Hoops mode. It is pretty fun. Let's take a look.

Here's something that seems like it would be hard to do, but I have three videos of it.

Forget three pointers, this one is from my own three-point arc.

Here's a nice putback...he gets the roll!

This one is more of a true dunk, where I hit downward into the hoop.

This shot was probably going in anyways, but I made sure it did.

This next play is the one that made me jump out of my chair. It's an online game where we're up one and the clock is winding down. Saves like this are very difficult to make. The last view is from my teammate so you can see that he wasn't going to save it.

I've also got some non-hoops highlights.

This one is a 3v3 game but in this play I take on the other team by myself.

Here's an aerial shot with a very tight angle.

Here's an epic save.

And here's a no look save on the goal line to preserve the win.

New Music: Big If True

Back in high school my friends started making some music. They talked about forming a garage band. I joined the band. The only problem was my lack of musical ability. I can't sing or play an instrument. I became the DJ!

In a 7-piece band, you would think I would absolutely be the most superfluous member. You'd be mostly right, although we did have a trumpet player and very few songs that included trumpet.

I joined ebay and bought one old turntable and a very basic mixer. I plugged a Discman into the second mixer input. I wasn't good. But it was fun.

We even made a music video.

I did come through in writing the majority of the lyrics for our second album. Also at this time, I got the program Acid Music and made songs using computer loops and samples from movies.

Ever since then, I've had the bug to make more music. Of course, the lack of musical ability continues to be a problem.

But the internet is amazing. I found virtual turntables online.

So four days ago I started fake scratching. Today I finished a song. You probably won't like it. But that's okay.

As for the name/art, it's really just placeholder. I needed something to put in the video so I made something in 10 seconds. I don't even know if "Big If True" is supposed to be an artist name, album name or song name. This is also what happens when you make music during the NFL Draft. Anyways, here's the first new song I've made in 15 years.

A Big Package of Draft Analysis

The Chiefs drafted the guy who's dick fell out of his shorts in the 40-yard dash. You can't make up this stuff.

I'm not a Blackhawks fan, but Jesus Christ, Kane looks like he's the only one moving while everyone else is standing still. First he creates his own shots with his stickhandling and then he gets his own rebound.

Damn.

Betteridge's Law of Headliens

So first I read about this and it makes so much sense.

And then I'm in a recording studio and see this cover on the wall:
