so they're not the worldwide leader in proofreading

  1. I always love seeing spelling and grammatical errors in titles and headlines. You'd think that even if you were skimming the story for errors, you'd really ensure the big font stuff was correct.

Obviously mistakes can still happen, but it is still always amusing.

  2. You what's annoying about Deadspin, other than the new design that doesn't have any information about the story on its main page, ALL OF THE TYPOS AND GRAMMATICAL MISTAKES.

Maybe it's just because I'm an English teacher, but it seems ridiculous for a professional writer to make so many mistakes.

I know he's under pressure to write quickly, but still.

  3. I always found that "need to write it quickly so it's going to have errors" to be a lame excuse. They do it on another site I read infrequently, TechCrunch. I don't like typos but I am usually pretty good about eyeballing something as I write it, and I'll edit/update it right afterwards if I posted it and notice an error.

But even for those who don't find typos as they type, there's so many tools out there no to spell and grammar check, that there's really no excuse. I don't see how you can expect to look reliable/professional when you can't take the trouble to at least try and proofread. Nobody's perfect, but at least most of your content should be error-free.
