Divisional Round Recap: Angel + Devil

I was eagerly awaiting Bills-Broncos because I knew one of them had to lose. As a Chiefs fan, I was ready to focus on the fall of my rivals.

But the game was...interesting. So here's my Angel and Devil inside me:

Angel

Look, both teams played well and proved they belong in the playoffs. They each scored 30, was an entertaining game, both QBs made big plays, both defenses earned turnovers, and there were calls that could have gone either way. Hard to hate on either team for their showing.

Devil

Whooo boy. Josh Allen and Pat Mahomes both became starters in 2018. Some people like Bill Simmons have said Allen is the best QB in the league. Let's check the fucking tape, eh?

Allen is 8-7 in the playoffs. He's never earned a bye in the playoffs. He's 0-4 against Mahomes in the playoffs. 0-2 in AFC Championship games. He just got his coach fired. 1 MVP.

Mahomes is 17-4 in the playoffs, plus five times earned a bye. 5-2 in AFC Championship games. 3 Super Bowl wins. 2 MVP. 3 Super Bowl MVP.

This is a rivalry like Globetrotters vs Generals.

Angel

It sucks that the Broncos won a big game and then Bo Nix suffered an ankle injury in the playoffs. That stinks.

Devil

The best ability is availability. Hmmm...ankle injury in the playoffs. Yeah, those happen. I seem to recall Mahomes playing through that and winning the Super Bowl 38-35 with one of those. Oh well. If the Broncos are really good, I'm sure they'll just get back here next year with a healthy Bo Nix. Pencil them in.
